Sweater Knitting Class

Are you ready to go from Beginner Knitter to Advanced Beginner?  Have you got your eye on a beautiful cardigan, but not sure if you have the skills?  We can help get you there!

Our sweater class will include instruction in all the necessary techniques to knit and then construct your sweater. And the best part is, since everyone can choose their own pattern from our list of carefully curated choices, you will learn the techniques in everybody else’s sweater, too!

There will be plenty of opportunity to ask questions. Written notes help you learn such things as:

  • How to select the right size for your body
  • How to read your pattern
  • How to personalize your pattern (adding special details)
  • Substituting yarns
  • Flatter yourself!
  • Comparing ribbing styles
  • Comparing fibers

Your materials pack (required) will include two pairs of circular needles of the sizes needed, crochet hook (for fixing mistakes), your chosen pattern, notes, and a variety of small, useful accessories.

The cost for this course is $40 for the materials pack (not including the yarn) and $100 for registration.  Your yarn will be available at 10% off our regular price (must be purchased in-house).  The full course will be at least 6 weeks, made up of a mix of instruction, learning and practicing new techniques, and knitting together to help you stay focused. There will be lots of handouts and notes to help you remember your new skills.  Ask all the questions you want! And if you need extra help, just come into the shop.  The class/group will continue until everyone has finished their sweaters.

Hi, Janice! This is more of an adult-size sweater class, for many reasons. However, you’re more than welcome to come in on Saturdays with your project to work on it in the lounge. I’ve never done any baby knits, but some of our other regulars have, so if you run into problems, I’m sure help can be found. On Saturdays, we welcome drop-in visitors all day, from 10 am to 4 pm. Hope to see you soon!

Interested in private knitting classes I am a nurse and can’t commit to classes available. Could do evening class.

Good morning, Julie! So sorry for the delay in answering. I didn’t see your message until now. (I was off sick this week.)
Which class are you interested in?
I would be glad to do private classes for you, but they would have to be during the day. I don’t work evenings. But I’m sure we could work something out. Are you able to drop into the shop so we can talk it over?
If you could please reply to me by email at MagicHourYarnShop@gmail.com, I’ll see your message faster. Thanks!
      Donna
